Jim Murdoch, living and working near the banks of Loch Lomond, has been painting professionally since 1986, and is a professional Associate of the Society of all Artists. When painting and when giving classes Jim is easily recognized as he will be wearing one of his many Kilts.
Painting had always been an interest of Jim's, but only as a hobby until on a holiday in Belgium the tutor encouraged him to commence selling his work
Starting in the local area he had moderate success , but an invitation to exhibit at the renowned Pitlochry Festival Theatre in 1991, was the launching pad he required.
From that came shared exhibitions in Edinburgh, Chichester, Pitlochry and Loch Lommondside. 1995 saw Jim's first solo exhibition in the Bridge Gallery, Gartocharn this was highly successful and resulted in other galleries and outlets being interested in his work.
At this time Jim also became involved in the Craft Demonstration days at Pitlochry Theatre, where he demonstrated Watercolour Painting Techniques. These events are very popular and draw large attendances, this has led to further engagements both at the Festival and else where in Scotland. He is also a tutor at an art club in Clydebank, and holds a monthly class in Alexandria. Now you too can learn to paint with Jim, at one of his classes
Jim's work can be found in private collections all over the world including, Canada, America, Australia, Switzerland and Belgium.
Private commisions of Scottish Landscapes, Flowers and Pets are a large part of Jim's work, and if you would like to know more please contact Jim
